The US Government has begun a new initiative that turns the Internal Revenue Service into a paramilitary type force who will be fully armed and trained to use 'deadly force'.
Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) posted a screenshot of the original job posting, and wrote: “The IRS is hiring! The government wants its IRS agents armed and its citizens disarmed. We’ll let everyone just marinate on that for a second.” but this was labelled as fake by social media 'fact-checkers'. However The Heritage Foundation then reported the same advert posting a screenshot with a job description that clearly includes the chilling line: "Carry a Firearm and be willing to use deadly force if necessary."
The post was promptly blocked by Twitter and Facebook as 'misinformation' but not before it was screenshot by eagle-eyed viewers.
This follows reports that the IRS has begun training units within the organisation on urban assault tactics. Buried in the 2021 annual report is details of how the new units are being created. The report documents how the agents are given “firearms training” and another image shows agents wearing tactical clothing that says ‘POLICE’ and ‘IRS-CI’.
Training also includes “physical fitness conditioning and use of force training, which includes firearms, weaponless tactics, and building entry,” according to the report. it goes on to say that agents will have "advanced training in use of force, firearms instruction, defensive tactics, and building entry.”
