David Lammy to abolish jury trials: 800-year Magna Carta birthright scrapped in secret memo – Britain’s final slide into socialist tyranny begins
Lord Chancellor David Lammy has ordered Whitehall to strip the British people of their ancient right to trial by jury and replace it with single-judge “diploma trials” decided by the State. A leaked Ministry of Justice memo, seen by Vision News, instructs civil servants to prepare legislation that will end jury trials for almost every criminal offence within 18 months. “No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgement of his equals or by the law of the land.”
That clause – the direct ancestor of trial by jury – was reinforced by the Petition of Right 1628 and the Habeas Corpus Act 1679. It exists for one reason: to stop kings, parliaments, and now socialist governments from jailing people on their own say-so. David Lammy wants to delete it.
In the leaked memo he brazenly claims “there is no absolute right to jury trial” – a lie so staggering that constitutional scholars have described it as “gaslighting on a medieval scale.” The official excuse? Court backlogs caused by years of Labour/Tory neglect. The real reason? Control. Once jury trial is gone, the State alone decides your guilt. 3. Fair Trial – now targeted for extinction by David Lammy
Three pillars of liberty demolished in lockstep, each attack sold as “temporary,” “proportionate,” or “common-sense.” The combined effect is unmistakable: a socialist police state built by stealth, without a cage constructed so slowly that most inmates still believe they are free.
THE PERMANENT “TEMPORARY” SOLUTION
Senior barristers and former judges contacted by Vision News were unanimous: once jury trial is restricted to “the rarest cases” (murder, treason, maybe terrorism), it will never return. Precedent after precedent – emergency COVID powers, stop-and-search expansions, terrorism legislation – proves that “temporary” suspensions of rights become permanent the moment the public looks away.
David Lammy is not clearing a backlog. He is clearing the last obstacle to absolute state power. When the right to be judged by twelve ordinary Britons is replaced by the verdict of one state official, the Magna Carta dies. England dies with it.
