Coronavirus: Tiger in Bronx Zoo Tests Positive for Covid-19

A four year old Malayan Tiger resident in the Bronx Zoo has tested positive for Coronavirus.

The Tiger is believed to be the first known case of its type in the world since the virus jumped species from the original host in a Wet Market in Wuhan, China.

The Zoo, in the heart of New York city, says the test has been confirmed by the National Veterinarian's Services Laboratory in Iowa. There are said to be another 6 Big Cats also now infected by Covid-19.

This represents a worrying development for millions of people who have domestic cats as pets because their biology is the same as that of Big Cats. This potentially means that domestic pets could be susceptible to the Coronavirus. Zoologists and Virologists are watching this case closely for clues.
