NATO in direct conflict with Russia has no other outcome.
In a vitriolic rant from his bunker and broadcast via social media, Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky has blamed NATO for the deaths of Ukrainian people, and called them 'weak' for not imposing a no-fly zone over Ukrainian airspace. Zelensky criticized NATO for not enforcing the no-fly zone before going on to accuse it of leaving his people to die.
“All the people who die from this day forward will also die because of you, because of your weakness, because of your lack of unity,” he said.
Zelensky appears to be under the illusion that NATO is some type of international rescue team that will come to the rescue of anyone that calls upon it. Perhaps he's confused it with Thunderbirds. Ukraine is not part of NATO, regardless of what he's written into their constitution. Ukraine is, for one thing, nowhere near the North Atlantic, a small but important fact he would have done well to remember before he committed the country to joining it.
NATO has repeatedly said that it will not attempt to impose a no-fly zone over Ukraine as that would vastly increase the threat of all out war. Whilst Putin has said that any such move would be an act of war.
There seems to be an assumption by former Soviet bloc countries that the West will supply the type of protection they previously got from Russia. That NATO will fight their wars for them, and that the US and UK will prop-up their economies whilst doing so. Zelensky is certainly of this opinion.
Whilst the blue-ticked buffoons on twitter, only weeks ago 'experts' on a virus, are also now calling for NATO to implement a no-fly zone over Ukraine, as if that were a simple thing to do, completely oblivious of the implications.
To the NYT borders don't matter when they're the ones protecting the US, but become really important when it's Ukraine..
This would put NATO in direct conflict with Russia. The very thing that Putin has been warning against. It would vastly raise the stakes. It would turn a regional conflict into a world war. With two superpowers in direct conflict over Europe. Two superpowers with nuclear arsenals. This would be utter madness.
